RICHARD KAEMPFER was a member of the Chicago media for twenty years. He was a radio host at the top rock station in Chicago (WLUP AM/FM) in the late 80s and early 90s, but, as executive producer for the John Records Landecker Show and the Steve Dahl & Garry Meier Show, is probably better known as one of the top radio producers in the country. Both shows he produced have been honored by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. In 2004, he coauthored The Radio Producer’s Handbook with fellow longtime producer John Swanson.

In addition to his radio honors (including Best Morning Show in Chicago and Best Oldies Show in America), Richard has won numerous awards for his freelance writing projects for magazines and advertising agencies. He is particularly proud of his National Writing Award in 1999, for his essay “Living Life to Its Fullest,” and his award-winning work for A.M.I.S.H. Chicago Advertising, an agency specializing in radio advertising, which he cofounded in 2000. Kaempfer is also a contributing editor for Shore Magazine, and his blog features new comedy material every single day.

He lives in suburban Chicago with his wife, Bridget, and his three sons, Tommy, Johnny, and Sean. If he ever stopped wasting his time following the Chicago Cubs, he might actually accomplish something in life beyond writing his first novel, $everance.
